WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade also increases an unspecified substat.
The more modernized gear generally has a greater value for trade regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or has a high stat variation (like Eth titan weapons). Upgrades are not as useful for those with lower requirements due to the need to roll the perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in every major city, and can be visited anytime to upgrade your equipment. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date it is recommended you visit the upgrader each couple of weeks.
Upgrades will cost more depending on the item level, however, they are always cheaper than buying new equipment. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to improve the quality of weapons and tools, armor and other items. upgrade item can be purchased by players from NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor using an button, which displays a preview of the item when it is upgraded when the player has enough materials.
The cost of upgrading is based on the slot of the item and the current level of the item, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers for instance. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Some upgrades offer discounts on Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain degree and is degraded, it can be sold and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currency types.
Many locations offer item upgraders in addition to the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount and the chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players complete certain achievements or complete quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades must be acquired through several methods that are both an improvement and a drawback.
In Season 3, the upgrade system was altered a bit, with numerous new features added. After an upgrade has been completed to a specific level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level will cost less. This is true regardless of whether the items are from another set of equipment.
The discount applies to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is reduced as well, but is only available once certain milestones have been reached.
Crests
Players have a variety of options when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. They can use Flightstones, which are a common upgrade currency that is accessible to all players, or crests, which are more specialized and consumed during upgrades on specific levels of the item. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.
First, you must be aware that the crests can only be purchased for equipment that is with a certain rank. Each rank comes with an upgrade path that is different. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the most complex requires as many as 20 crests, based on the kind of gear that is being upgraded.
Players can obtain crests by finishing content at the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons with any difficulty for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses for endgame gear. Crests can be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.
The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, but it brings some modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it no longer requires Flightstones. This is to allow players to get their gear up to the highest level possible for all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.
Another notable modification is that crests have one use therefore it's essential to make use of them in a responsible manner. It's best to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the best gear you can locate, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is especially applicable to items like rings and trinkets that occupy multiple slots. The account-wide discount is only applicable when all slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
